"For sale along with 500 autonome, stonethrowing, violent psychopaths from hell"

Ungdomshuset, a squat and punk venue in Copenhagen, was evicted and torn down earlier this month. It had existed in its current incarnation for 25 years and had a 100+ year history as a radical labor center. There's a good chance Aghast would have played there this summer if it were still standing. Just yesterday I ran into a friend who had played there, and I'm sure there are other DCers who have had the privilege. As far as punk houses go, it seems that Ungdomshuset was a really big deal in the European scene. The eviction was met with large, chaotic demonstrations that resulted in over 700 arrests and accompanying destruction.
